The Ministry of Defence, Nigeria is the proud host of the 39th edition of the World Congress on Military Medicine taking place in Abuja from 20 - 25 November 2011.
The 39th WCMM 2011 provides an important platform for participants to meet in a condusive atmosphere where it has been proven to be an effective catalyst in promoting new partnerships and strengthening existing ones for mutual benefits.

The Nigerian Ministry of Defence welcomes you to the 39th World Congress of Military Medicine (WCMM) holding under the aegis of the International Committee of Military Medicine. The theme of this edition of the WCMM is Military Medicine and Disaster Management. The aptness of the theme is underscored by the recent unfolding global occurrences of disasters in all of the 5 continents of the world – earthquake in Haita and China, floods in Europe, Pakistan and Australia, landslides and sinkhole in South America, tropical storms in Madagascar and lately the earthquake, tsunami and nuclear disasters in Japan. Traditionally, the Military is deployed to work in such environments rendering assistance and succor to the civil population. This Congress thus offers an opportunity for over 1000 professionals from the Military and the Academia from about 100 countries to enrich each other and to chart out ways to render better services when called up to duty. Where feasible, flights should be booked to terminate in Abuja (host city of the conference). Delegates whose flights terminate in Lagos need to take a local flight from the Murtala Mohammed Airport Terminal 2 (MM2) or Old Domestic Terminal from Lagos to Abuja which costs about N25, 000.00 ($170) for a one way ticket. The flight time from Lagos to Abuja is 55 minutes. Regular local flights between Lagos and Abuja are available and with some airlines, it is possible to book all the way to Abuja.
